Water Tank Delivery | Service Areas
Select Water Tanks will make sure your new water tank is delivered and positioned correctly on your base. We can also assist and coordinate with a crane operator if required. We use delivery zones to provide an estimate on your delivery costs.
Water Tank Site Preparation
Construction of the water tank base is critical. The base must
be flat, level and fully supporting the bottom and the rim of the tank and at least 100 mm greater than the base of the tank.
Damage to water tanks caused by poor base construction may not be covered under warranty.
Concrete slab
- A concrete base is preferred and should be 100mm thick
- Concrete blend should at least 25 MPA with F62 reinforcing mesh
- Tanks positioned on sloping ground may need extra reinforcing (we recommend seeking further advise from a qualified concreter)
- Concrete pavers should be placed on a bed of crusher dust or a sand & cement mix over 75 mm thick
- Unless compacted properly, the base will settle.
- It is advisable to fill the tank to only a depth of 100mm for at least 48 hours
- Crusher dust can be appropriate for larger diameter round tanks
- Base should be at least 100 mm thick
- It should be retained with a border to prevent erosion (the edge of the tank should sit well inside the edge of the border in case of subsidence)
- It is recommended that gravel/course aggregate should be spread over the exposed crusher dust after the tank is positioned to prevent erosion
Will You Need a Crane?
Any tank under 25,000 Litres in capacity can usually be managed without the use of a crane assuming access is unobstructed. However, depending on site conditions, we do request at least one other person on site to give us a hand in many circumstances, sometimes two.
Should a crane be required it is the responsibility of the customer to arrange. Select Water Tanks can then co-ordinate the timing of the delivery with the crane operator. Select Water Tanks can supply the lifting gear, but we request the crane operator supplies the spreader bar.
Delivered to the Pad
Select Water Tanks will make sure your new water tank is delivered and positioned directly on the pad. Our tanks, while strong and durable, do require some careful handling to make sure they arrive in perfect condition. Of course we ask that the access to the pad is unobstructed so we can operate efficiently and safely.

What Our Client’s Say About Us …
Water Tank Site & Delivery FAQs
What are the delivery costs?
Our Office Manager will discuss with you the cost of delivery. The delivery cost is primarily based on the distance from our factory south of Brisbane to your site. Other factors which may need to be taken into consideration for example, are the size of the load and the difficulty of access to your site.
How long does it take for the Tanks to Arrive?
It normally takes about three weeks to make your tank and have it ready for delivery.
In very busy periods however, it can sometimes take up to 7 or 8 weeks to have your tank ready for delivery. Please check with our Office Manager the likely delivery time for your tank, given the current work load at the time of order.
Do you connect the tanks up?
No. We suggest you get a local plumber to connect them up. That way you have a local expert to make them compliant to local conditions.
What other fittings are available?
There are a wide range of additional fittings we can provide. One example is we can install a bucket height tap on the side of your tank.
Will you position the tank(s) on site?
Yes we can position your tank(s) on to a concrete slab, a crusher dust pad or a timber platform provided they are built correctly to fit the size of tank ordered.
We can provide one or two men if needed but you will need to provide additional staff if the tank is very large or it is a particularly difficult site to access.
If a crane is needed, we can liaise with the crane company.
How are tanks delivered?
Our usual delivery mode is on either a small truck, truck and trailer or 4WD ute and trailer. The round tanks are rolled off onto mattresses which protect the tanks, whereas the slimline tanks are carried or put onto small trolleys for manoeuvring and then depending on the site access being suitable, rolled or manoeuvred close to the prepared tank base.
A geofabric cloth is put down onto the prepared base, then the tank is stood onto its bottom on the prepared base. The tank can then be moved around to the correct positioning.
Depending on the size of the tank some onsite assistance will be required. It is best to discuss any site complications or delivery queries when ordering your tank.
Do the tanks meet Council Overlay requirements?
Yes we can build the tanks to meet specific Council Overlay requirements.
